DotMarks is an app for practising the statutory checks set for primary schools in England. Each check gets its own pack, built on the same approach.

The approach

Every pack has levels that start friendly and end in the real format of the check. Early levels give feedback after each answer and keep a companion on screen. The final level presents the check as it is on the day, with no help during it and the score at the end.

Every answer is recorded with whether it was right and how long it took. What a child gets wrong comes round more often until it sticks. A parent area, behind a PIN, shows progress per child and lets you adjust the practice levels. The real-format level cannot be adjusted.

Data stays on the device

The app has no accounts, no analytics and no adverts, and it does not use the network. Everything is stored on the phone or tablet it was played on. The privacy policy has the detail.
